Funny stories about the captive rabbit and a rustic fox at the end of the XIX century recorded and processed the American folklorist writer Joel Chandler Harris. In Russian, part of the fairy tales was first published in 1936 in the already classical processing of Mikhail Gershonon, whose texts are used in this edition.
In the 1970s, Gennady Kalinovsky created illustrations for the tales of Uncle Rimus", which brought the artist two prestigious awards - a silver medal of the book fair in Leipzig and the "Golden Apple" International Biennale illustration in Bratislava. Completed in the unusual technique "prickly", sharp drawings of Kalinovsky today are considered not only one of the vertices of artist"s creativity, but also a masterpiece of domestic illustration.
