Many artists have depicted the boy nicknamed Uncle Fyodor, and in all of their works, he turned out to be a positive, serious preschooler. And the dog and the cat, despite their fur, ears, and tails, resembled humans and even walked on their hind legs. The artist Gennady Kalinovsky portrayed completely different characters: his Uncle Fyodor is a chubby boy with early-grown mustaches, the cat Matroskin is a real cat, with the typical feline facial expressions and movements, and Sharik is a simple village dog of an unpretentious breed. But for some reason, these characters are incredibly appealing with their caricatured appearance. Probably because the artist captured the most vivid features of Eduard Uspensky's beloved characters.
