In this edition, the famous meeting of the Tretyakov Gallery was deeply analyzed at the stage of its formation, that is, during the life of the founders - Pavel Mikhailovich and Sergey Mikhailovich Tretyakov. The meeting is comprehensively considered as a holistic and multifaceted phenomenon in which the personal choice of collectors reflecting many important intentions of the era. The novelty of the work is in the change of the traditional historical and factory vector analysis of the collection of the Tretyakov brothers for a comprehensive integrated analysis of the history of the museum in the context of social and political, aesthetic and moral ideas reflecting the pressing demands of the Russian society of the second half of the XIX century.
