Alexander Vasiliev (b. 1958) is a fashion historian, theatrical designer, TV presenter, president of the Alexander Vasiliev Foundation, honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a recipient of the Order of Arts and Literature of France and the Order of the Cross of Latvia. He is the author of books such as "Beauty in Exile," "Russian Fashion: 150 Years in Photographs," and "Family Values." In his new book "Nomad's Treasures: Paris and Beyond Everywhere," Alexander Vasiliev tells the story of how he arrived in Paris in 1982 with a folder of his sketches and how he became a sought-after theatrical designer and fashion historian worldwide in just a few years. He taught fashion history in Paris, South America, and Japan, designed performances on the best world stages, worked with Yuri Lyubimov and Maya Plisetskaya, and shared about his encounters with Rudolf Nureyev, Galina Vishnevskaya, and Pierre Cardin, as well as his friendships with first-wave emigrants, including artists Rostislav Dobuzhinsky, Dmitry Bushen, Erte, aristocrats, ballerinas, and models. He also describes the creation of the famous book "Beauty in Exile" and the assembly of a unique collection of historical costumes.
