The book represents the first volume of the monumental seven -year -old work of the outstanding Swiss archaeologist, traveler, ethnographer and naturalist Frederik Dubois de Monteper (1798-1850), the only scientist who was the general history of the countries and peoples of the Western and Central Caucasus, as well as the Transcaucasia in cultural ethnic, religious , archaeological and natural -reference aspect. By imitating ancient travelers, Dubois de Montper leads in the description of the fate of the people with whom he met during his long wanderings: a similar combination of scientific and artistic and journalistic aspects makes the narrative both cognitive and fascinating when you dream of reading another behind one page. In full, the first volume was translated into Russian by Vladimir Tkachenko-Gildrandt for the first time.
