After the first expeditions to Gayan, Indonesia and Paraguay described in the book “Traveling of a naturalist: Adventures with wild animals”, David Atenboro, the legendary leading of the documentary series about the wild “Planet Earth” to the BBC, made no less exciting travels in another part of the world. On Madagascar and New Guinea, in the Pacific Islands and the northern territory of Australia as part of a group of other enthusiasts, he not only relieved nature with its amazing flora and fauna - wood pythons, paradise birds, chameleons, lizards, siphanes, Indri, lemurs, Barramundi and others animals, but also sought to carefully illuminate the lifestyle, traditions and beliefs of the indigenous inhabitants of these regions. Atenboro watched the jumps of earthen divers from the pentecost, participated in the ceremonies of the Sing-Sing on New Guinea and the Royal Kava on Tonga, studied cave painting in Nurlandzhi, talked with the master of the cortex in the northern territory. And although sixty years have passed since the last journey described in this book, Attenborough’s stories will never lose freshness and charm, because they are permeated with love for all living things and filled with the spirit of discoverelation.
Since then, a lot has changed, but I have left stories about these places and events just as I wrote down (David Atenboro)
