In 1580-1581, the French writer and philosopher Michel de Monten in the company of four young people took a trip to 1 Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy. The impressions of this trip are reflected in his diary, which was first published only in 1774.
These personal travel notes indicate a genuine interest in the traveler in everything that was on his way. The history of cities and villages, architectural and engineering structures, local traditions and the state of medicine, menu and convenience of inns, the cost of horses and overnight - all were awarded the attention of the author of the diary. A significant place is occupied by the descriptions of the Aquarrons: the equipment is bathing, the taste of water, the result of its effect on the body, etc.
Miraculously preserved Montean"s travel diary allows us to see the ordinary side of the era, which descendants will be called late revival
