In 1900, Russia, together with other great powers, participated in the suppression of the “boxing uprising” in China, in fact in one of the first “police wars”. In this book, two works of witnesses of events “met”. Dmitry Yangchevetsky wrote his most famous book “At the walls of motionless China” in hot pursuit. His opponent, Boris Rustam-Bek, Tagaev, published the Root of Evil in Paris, in 1909. Yangvevetsky outlined the history of the defeat of China from a hurricetic position, and the emigrant Tageev criticized the royal Far Eastern policy, which led to defeat in the Russian-Japanese war. For the first time, a modern reader can see the history of pacing China through the eyes of people who, to put it mildly, have not sympathized with each other. This gives a chance to evaluate a long -standing story with maximum objectivity
