The book is dedicated to the nature and history of Yekaterinburg and its environs. It is designed for a wide range of readers - from schoolchildren to teacher, from students to a university teacher, and especially for tourists and local historians. It contains a large illustrative and reference material.
Author - candidate of geographical sciences, associate professor Nina Petrovna Arkhipova, and other books on this subject were published by it: three publications of the Vocabulary of Sverdlovsk, "Reserved places of the Sverdlovsk region", on the history of the study of the region - "How the Ural Mountains were discovered ( Three editions, co-authored with E.V. Yastrebov), "non-taxed paths" (about the geologist-mineralist of the last century E.K. Gofman), as well as maps: "Protected nature objects of the Sverdlovsk region" (together with V. V. Ippolitov, 1993) and several special cards in the atlas of the Sverdlovsk region (1997)
In the preparation of the book, library and historical data and own observations of the author were used
