Stepan Petrovich Krasheninnikov (1711-1755)-Russian botanist, ethnographer, geographer, traveler, researcher of Siberia and Kamchatka, adjunct of natural history and botany, professor of the Imperial Academy of Sciences and Arts in St. Petersburg. Rector of the University of the Academy of Sciences. With the Great Northern Expedition under the leadership of professors I.-G. Gmelin and G.-F. Miller studied Siberia for 3 years. In 1737, Miller and Gmelin in Yakutsk, instead of themselves, sent Krasheninnikov to Kamchatka only on the Krasheninnikov peninsula for four years (1737-1741) Working alone, Krasheninnikov gathered a unique natural-historical material about this region of Russia, its plant and animal world, natural conditions, minerals, life and the language of the indigenous population-Kurils, Itelmen, Koryaks, the history of the conquest and settlement of Kamchatka.
