On May 28, 2000, the English traveler David Hempleman-Adams went from Spitsbergen to fly to the North Pole. He knew that if he could withstand a week in the air, he would become the first person in history to reach the North Pole in the balloon.
David decided to fly in a basket, and not in a modern closed capsule, out of respect for the three Swedes - Salomon Andre, Nilsa Strindberg and Knu Frenkel, who flew in 1897 to the pole in the balloon "Eagle". He understood the emotional significance of their expedition, which was distinguished not only by the incredible courage of the participants, but also by the tragic love story that goes beyond the time frame. Three days after the start of the flight, the Eagle fell. The bodies of aeronauts were found 33 years later. Strindberg lay his engagement ring near the outstretched hand, in his pocket there was a medallion donated by the bride for his birthday, and in a shaky hut from the whale mustache there was his last letter to his lover.
In the book "by the will of the wind, the reader will find the amazing stories of both travels: the tragic flight of Andre and the achievements of Sir David Hempleman-Adams remaining unsurpassed
