The book of Marco Polo (c. 1254–1324), one of the most famous travelers in the history of mankind, saw the light at the beginning of the XIV century. In it, the observant and practical Venetian shared his own observations about morals, state institutions and life of China, a country, almost unknown in Europe of the time in which Marco Polo spent 15 years in the service of the famous Khan Khubilai.
From this book, many Europeans first learned about the countries of the East, their natural wealth and technical achievements - paper money, a printed board, a saga palm, a compass and a bill, as well as the stone coal and the whereabouts of the coveted spices. Written by a lively and clear language, "Book" Marco Polo became a desktop for many outstanding travelers of the era of great geographical discoveries. It was she who inspired Christopher Columbus to open America. In the end, the search for ways of acquiring spices bypassing the Arabic trade monopoly led to the redistribution of the world and the disappearance of many white spots on the map, and the book about the travels of Marco Polo became one of the few editions that influenced the course of world history
