Transport and logistics in the Arctic. Almanac 2016. Issue 2

The publication systematically examines the main issues of a comprehensive approach to creating a national multimodal transport corridor aimed at year-round operation, including the Northern Sea Route, and the latitudinal and longitudinal river, road, and rail communications gravitating towards it, as well as the airport network. The establishment of a single management body - a transport operator, the construction of transport and logistics infrastructure in the Arctic zone, specific projects such as the Northern Latitudinal Passage, the Murmansk Transport Hub, the Belkomur, the opening of the Arctic container line Murmansk - Petropavlovsk - Murmansk, and others are discussed. Each section is presented by recognized specialists in their field. An undeniable advantage of the almanac is the systematic approach to the topic, which involves discussing in detail issues of international cooperation, communication, navigation, hydro-meteorological support, transport and environmental safety, and education when considering the problems of developing transport infrastructure.
