The book is dedicated to the theory and practice of contemporary American psychoanalysis by Hyman Spotnitz and his followers. The publication explores modern aspects of the main concepts of psychoanalysis - narcissistic transference, Spotnitz's five types of resistance, and various forms of countertransference. For the first time, a clinical classification and description of the most common countertransference resistances are offered. The theoretical aspects of psychoanalytic methodology are illustrated with expressive clinical cases and examples. A significant portion of the book is devoted to practical issues of psychoanalysis with pre-Oedipal patients, including the results of the authors' own research. The authors propose their own model of collaboration between psychiatry and psychoanalysis, combining a psychodynamic approach with modern outpatient psychiatric care.
