Alexander Kushner is one of the best lyrical poets of the 20th century, the author of fifty poetry books, as well as several essays and articles on classical and contemporary Russian poetry. The lyrics of A.S. Kushner were influenced by Russian classical poets such as Fyodor Tyutchev, Afanasy Fet, Innokenty Annensky, Anna Akhmatova, Mikhail Kuzmin, and Osip Mandelstam. The main character of his poetry is the Soul. It is the source of his voice, the beginning of all impressions. Life itself is a colorful ribbon, a series of different meanings and symbols for the poet. "Kushner is the Laodicean angel of Russian poetry, the one who introduced happiness into the mandatory program," said literary critic Andrey Aryev about the poet.
