Herbert Wells' novels do not contain today's realities - computers, space shuttles, and particle colliders, yet they are read with undiminished interest and will never leave the bookshelves. Whatever is the object of criticism in Wells' novels - the machinations of the underground slave-morlocks, the inaction of the rich-eloi, or the illusion of omnipotence and impunity of the self-confident scientist - over 100 years since the first publication of "The Time Machine" and "The Invisible Man," human vices and weaknesses have not changed much.
