“Paper Souls” are the final part of the trilogy of the criminal novels “Melancholy”, written by the author’s duet under the pseudonym Eric Axl Sund. The driver of a freight train following in Stockholm finds a girl hiding among logs in one of the wagons. She runs away, but soon she is arrested in connection with a fight, and police officers Jeanette Chilberg, Yimmy Schwartz and Niels Olund conduct an investigation to establish her personality. The case turns out to be confusing-it turns out that the girl is somehow connected with the two killings that occurred in the suburbs of Stockholm. In parallel with the investigation, the presentation of the last novel by the writer Per Cviding is held-he writes about his distant relative Styne, who grew up in the northern regions of Sweden at the end of the 19th century and emigrated in the United States due to crop failures and hunger. The quoting novel is closely intertwined with the conducting investigation, and all participants find themselves in a tense race over time. This action -packed psychological thriller will keep the reader in suspense to the very last pages.
