Soviet counterintelligence learns that after the retreat of the Wehrmacht forces in the Caucasus region, German agents remained, and they are planning a serious provocation. An explosion is planned in the mountains, as a result of which one of the local mining and processing plants will be buried under a powerful landslide. The group led by Maxim Shelestov is tasked with preventing the sabotage. The operatives manage to identify and destroy the main part of the militants. But their leader remains at large. In order to lure him into a trap, Shelestov assigns his assistant Mikhail Sosnovsky to play an unusual "role"...
