In 1888, the British author of humorous essays and stories, Jerome Clapka Jerome wrote an adventure story in which three brave gentlemen conquered the water element with a risk to life. True, it was only about the peaceful River Thamze, the gentlemen were London clerks, and the dangers and obstacles in their path arose mainly because three citizens in the boat behaved as absurdly as possible. “Three in the boat, not counting the dog” - this is a witty parody of exotic adventure novels and recognition of love of ordinary life, in which there is no place for a feat, but there are many small joys, discoveries and adventures. The story of Jerome became a bestseller as soon as she went out of the press, and over almost 130 years, her popularity all over the world has only increased
