Lev Andreevich Yelnitsky (1907-1979) - historian of antiquity. In the 1930s, he worked in the historical museum. In 1941, Lev Andreevich, along with other employees, the museum went to the front as part of the Moscow national militia. Soon his part was surrounded and he was captured. He was in German captivity all war. Returned home only at the end of 1945. After the war, most of the Soviet soldiers who were captured, subjected to repression. Yelnitsky was arrested at the beginning of 1950 and stayed in the camp of 6 years.
His memories have lacquered in the home archive for many years and are only now going out. They consist of three volumes. The first tells about the war and stay in German captivity. The second volume is devoted to arrest and imprisonment in the Soviet camp. And the third will tell about the fate of Yelnitsky in science.
