This book has its own story. Svyatoslav Vladimirovich Sakharov had long thought about publishing a final book. He had the right to do so: a front-line soldier, an interesting writer, an indefatigable traveler, a long-time editor of the children's magazine 'Koster'... And that's not even the most important thing. The main thing is the theme of his final book - the Fate of the Wild Nature. Every person can and should, Sakharov believes, help Nature survive on Earth, otherwise, a person will cease to be a Human. A plan for the book was drawn up, some stories, fairy tales, and photographs were selected, but - as it is now customary to say - it didn't work out. Svyatoslav Vladimirovich was then far over 80, and he has been gone for over a year now. But the books, plans, and archive remained, with which the writer's heirs kindly allowed us to work. You are holding a book compiled by the editorial board according to the plan and materials of S.V. Sakharov. We hope you will enjoy it and find it useful. Here are the last lines of this book: '...Do not forget that the Earth is a ship sailing in Space, and we all - humans, animals, and sea creatures - are its crew, which must be united.
