The manual systematically sets out the problems of one of the priority areas of cultural studies - linguocultural studies adapted for the university course of intercultural communication and contributing to the formation of intercultural competence. The manual covers 15 topics relevant for intercultural communication. The general theoretical problems of the ratio of intercultural communication and linguoculturology, cultural literacy, the typology of cultures, communicative stereotypes, etc. are highlighted. Particular attention is paid to the practice of intercultural communication in the academic sphere, translating, interpretation of English -language and German -language humor, systematization of precedent phenomena. For the first time in the manual, a section dedicated to intercultural sports issues was allocated. The presentation of the problems is preceded by a plan, at the end of the sections questions and tasks for independent work and discussion at seminars and a list of literature are given. The text of the sections is written in Russian, illustrative examples are given in English, German and Russian. In each section, keywords are highlighted that students interpret in English or German
