Bishop of Ignatius (in the world Dmitry Alexandrovich Bryanchaninov) - an outstanding scientist, theologian, preacher, a devotee, the author of numerous spiritual works. He came from the old nobility name, received education in a military engineering school. In 1827 he entered the novice to Alexander-Svir Monastery, then in the Optio desert. In 1857, he was ordained in the bishop of Caucasian and Black Sea. The last years of life spent in the Nikolo-Babaev monastery of the Kostroma diocese, where he wrote his famous theological works and continued his correspondence with spiritual children. In 1988 he was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church. The works of the saint cause constant interest in all who think about the issues of spiritual life.
