The book contains diary entries of Boris Arkadyevich Mordvinov (6.12.1899, Moscow - 9.12.1953, Moscow) for the years 1927-1936 - a director and chief director of the V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater, and for the years 1936-1940 - the chief director of the Bolshoi Theater. The main content of the entries includes reflections on theater, the director's profession, working with actors, and the necessity of 'seeing the music'. Many generations of young professionals in the field of musical theater, as well as anyone interested in the meaning and purpose of art, could not read them as our culture was artificially and forcibly deprived of these texts. In them, the outstanding director, a follower of K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, presented his practical and methodological views on the development of theater, which have not lost their significance and relevance to this day. Compilation and afterword by N.M. Mordvinova.
