The purpose of publishing the book by the Chinese author Simanan "The USSR and Modern Russia. Selected Comments" was the desire to familiarize the broad masses of workers, public figures, and scholars of Russia and the CIS countries with the views and comments of representatives of the main directions of social, political, and cultural life in China on the key events that have taken place in Russia in recent years, as well as to help readers in Russia and the CIS countries to better understand and grasp the modern views and perceptions of Chinese society towards Russia. Comrade Simanan is an internationalist, an activist of the international communist and labor movements, a political commentator, and a Marxist literary critic. He has long been actively involved in Chinese society, politics, and culture, and is a representative and flagship of the left cultural movement in Chinese society.
