About the book
Both organizations and families are systems. For a successful functioning of the system that is a marriage, the implementation of four roles is necessary. Firstly, the fulfillment of various duties: taking care of each other, managing the household and children, providing necessary income for the family, etc.
Being a system, a family requires discipline and rules - otherwise, there won't be order within it. The order should change depending on circumstances, as marriage is a long-term choice, and over time, to remain functional, it must evolve. And finally, unity and harmony based on closeness, mutual assistance, and... love should prevail in the family.
So, four different roles need to be implemented in the family for all these actions to become possible: Production (P), Administration (A), Entrepreneurship (E), and Integration (I), which make up the abbreviation PAEI. In case one or more roles are not fulfilled, the marriage will lack something, risking breaking apart.
All four PAEI roles cannot be combined simultaneously, and no one can perform them alone. Thus, marriage represents a complementary team, where one partner takes on one set of roles, and the other takes the remaining set. This explains why opposites attract.
The trouble is that when people with different behavior styles come together, conflicts arise among them. Conflict can escalate into a destructive phase and lead to divorce. Or it can help further development and self-realization. This depends on whether there is respect and trust in the family.
This book is about respect and trust and how to develop and nurture them in your family.
From the preface by Ichak Adizes
For many years, working with hundreds of companies and thousands of leaders, clients tell me in their feedback that they apply Adizes' methodology, which we taught them in consultations, in their family life. People note that it improves their relationships in families. Some even believe it saved their marriage. I mean the usual difficulties of understanding each other and so on, which everyone faces in marriage, not problems resulting from personal psychological shortcomings requiring separate professional intervention.
I was asked to write a book on how Adizes' methodology is applicable to family life. The problem is, I have no time for that at all. For years, I have been working hard, consulting major corporations and world leaders worldwide. When would I have time to write such a book?
By a fortunate coincidence, Yehezkel and Ruth Madanes became interested in my theory and asked for permission to write a book on applying the PAEI management style code by Adizes to the Enneagrams, which is their own specialization. I agreed, and their book was published and translated into three languages.
Then I learned that they not only teach the Enneagrams. Based on the Enneagrams, they conduct family training and relationship training. 'Why don't you try using Adizes' theory as well?' I asked them.
They loved the idea, and that's how this book was born.
Who is this book for
For anyone who wants to strengthen their family.

The essence of the theory is that any company, like any living organism, goes through different stages of development: birth, childhood, youth, and so on. The company experiences growth diseases and all the problems any living organism faces during its lifetime. Adizes' theory is a kind of elixir of eternal youth for corporations.
Another well-known theory of Adizes, explaining the typologies of leaders, is described in the book 'How to Overcome Management Crises.' According to Dr. Adizes, there is no perfect leader. According to his PAEI model, to achieve effectiveness, a leader needs four qualities: P - producer, A - administrator, E - entrepreneur, I - integrator. All these qualities cannot be combined in one person, so
