In the new book of the largest American psychoanalyst, from a completely unexpected point of view, one of the most important issues of Russian Orthodoxy is considered - writing icons. Not being neither an Orthodox Christian nor a believer, Deniel Rankour-Lapherier comes to the conclusion that this phenomenon is just a set of actions that understand only by their performer. According to the author, the miraculous icons are the fruit of the imagination of people susceptible to the illusions of the presence of the depicted primortion. The wonderful believers of Christ is not a victim for the sins of mankind, but a voluntary masochist. And the reverence of Our Lady is connected with the children"s complex of fear of losing his mother"s mother, with her deification. Of course, this work is quite controversial. Orthodox theologians and theologians, ordinary priests and their parishioners are convinced of the truth of the Orthodox faith. Yes, and the American researcher himself completes the work with such words: life is Calvary, and "adopted Calvary leads to the resurrection and eternal life.
