Tatyana Shchepkina-Kupernik (1874–1952) - playwright, poetess, writer, most famous for her translation work. Her translations of Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Molière, Sheridan are well known. Chekhov called her 'a great writer of the Russian land'. Shchepkina-Kupernik was part of the artistic Moscow life from an early age. In her memoir book 'The Theater in My Life', she talks about the theatrical and literary life of Moscow during the times of Chekhov and the young Yermolova, about the Maly Theater, the Art Theater, the Alexandrinsky Theater, about scandals and tumultuous romances in the bohemian milieu of that time.
