The second book in the detective series by Yulia Yakovleva about the detective Zaytsev, whose action takes place in the 1930s in Leningrad. The plot revolves around a death at the horse races: the rider Zhemchuzhny and the famous Soviet genetics wonder horse Pryanik die. To solve the crime, Zaytsev will have to find himself in various places: at the racetrack and in the veterinary clinic, in a tavern and at the train station. Fate will also throw him into the famine-stricken south of the country. Yulia Yakovleva's historical novel is about the millstones of time, in which it is difficult but necessary to preserve oneself.
