Marina Tsvetaeva was a poet of tragic destiny and extraordinary talent. She is known not only as the author of poems and epics, but also of prose, which also bears the stamp of her unique individuality. The action of "A Tale of Sonechka" takes place in the hungry post-revolutionary Moscow. The characters of the story are the actress Sophia Golliday, the artist Yu. Zavadsky, the poet P. Antokolsky, and of course, the incomparable Marina Tsvetaeva herself. "A Tale of Sonechka" is the last prose work of Marina Tsvetaeva. Written in 1937 after the news of the death of her close friend, actress Sophia Golliday, it brings Tsvetaeva back to Moscow in 1919-1920. In a chain of memories of the life of Moscow's bohemia against the backdrop of social upheavals, accompanied by natural chronological disruptions and repetitions, Tsvetaeva mourns the end of the Silver Age poignantly.
