"The word about the regiment of Igor" is an outstanding work of ancient Russian poetry, telling about the unsuccessful campaign of Novgorod-Seversk Prince Igor Svyatoslavich against Polovtsy in 1185. His unknown author calls Russian princes to stop gravestics and unite for the joint protection of the Russian land. The imbued idea of patriotism, "Word" is a unique product of a lyric-epic genre, in which book traditions are combined with the motifs and images of folk poetry and Slavic mythology. According to its artistic meaning "Word" allocated against the background of other monuments of the Old Russian literature and is one of the most significant achievements of the European medieval epic. Detected as part of the handwritten collection by A. I. Musin-Pushkin and published in 1800, "Word", according to the poet A. N. Makov, "made an era in our literary world. It attracted the attention not only by researchers, but also poets, artists, musicians. The word "has become the object of numerous poems and translating, the best of which is included in this publication
