The monograph on a wide historical and literary material discusses the typology of the gospel plot of the prodigal son, its transformation and actualization in the process of unceasing meaning. Based on a comparative analysis, the development of the invariant in works in the movement of the eras is traced, the similarities and differences of literary texts are revealed, and the stability of an archetypal plot appears as a way of artistic comprehension of the event. Artistic models as options for text-matrix, created by an individual-author consciousness, represent the semantic dummy of interpretation of the problem of “fathers and children” in the modifications system and the multidimensionality of the image of the “prodigal son”.
