The book is the second part of the memoirs of Professor of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff, Minister of War of the Russian Empire in 1905-1909, A.F. Rediger. It tells about the completion of his service as Minister of War, participation in the work of the State Council, events of the February and October revolutions of 1917, and ends with a description of the beginning of wanderings against the backdrop of the unfolding Civil War. The author of the memoirs not only vividly depicts the events he witnessed, but also gives them a balanced assessment. The characteristics of Nicholas II, his closest circle, ministers, and other prominent contemporaries are also of undoubted interest.
