In the history of each country there are epoch -making events, not only influencing its fate, but also fundamentally changed the world. A whole century has passed since in 1917 a monarchist system collapsed in tsarist Russia, burying a 300-year-old Romanov dynasty and counting a ruthless popular trouble.
It is quite difficult after 100 years to evaluate any historical event, all the more so multifaceted and ambiguous as the Great Russian Revolution. In a pile of books on that time, in a huge number of contradictory hypotheses, in the variety of class and political interpretations, not only its appearance, but also meaning is lost.
In this collection dedicated to the history of the February and October Revolutions, we decided to give the word to the people who lived in that difficult era, representatives of various social layers and political beliefs. They reacted differently to the events of 1917: someone greeted them, someone did not accept them at all, but the fact that this time was the time of the great turning point in the life of each of them is an undoubted fact
