The book is dedicated to the dramatic events that took place in Spain from 1936 to 1939 and is a collection of articles authored by a number of leading domestic specialists on the subject, as well as young researchers, compiled based on the results of the round table "The Civil War in Spain. Mysteries of History." The range of problems outlined and revealed in the book includes such little-studied aspects of the war in domestic historiography as the internal conflict in the anti-fascist camp, which resulted in armed clashes in Barcelona in 1937, the motivation and behavior of its sides, the crisis of the republican government, the social revolution proclaimed by anarchists. The phenomenon of massive international volunteer participation in the armies of the Republic and Franco (using the example of the Irish and Russian White Guards) is also touched upon, as well as the reflection of war and revolution in art and culture.
