This book is dedicated to the study of horse racing, including its significance for the development and improvement of horse breeding and horsemanship in Russia. The book consists of four essays connected by a common idea. The first essay discusses the motivations behind gambling in general, particularly during horse races, as well as the proper organization of this activity to mitigate its harmful effects. The second essay explores the connection between racetrack competitions and the improvement of horse breeding, while the third examines the role of horse racing from an economic perspective. Finally, the fourth essay provides a brief overview of the history of horse breeding, describing the improvement of horse breeds in relation to the development of racetrack competitions.
Despite being written quite some time ago, many of the book's points remain relevant today, especially as the global development of pedigree horse breeding is supported by prize money at racetracks. It will be of interest to specialists in the field of horsemanship and horse breeding, as well as to all those who are passionate about horse racing and participate in it.
