Rafael Batai is a budding writer who just can't seem to catch a break. His manuscript for the novel "Shy Peaks" fails to attract publishers, and he receives rejection after rejection. In search of inspiration, he sets off to the island of Bomon to find his idol - Nathan Faulz, the author of three incredible novels. The catch is that Faulz abandoned his writing career years ago without explanation and has become somewhat of a recluse - living alone, refusing interviews, and avoiding contact with anyone. However, Rafael is determined to unravel his mystery. Swiss journalist Mathilda Monne is also intrigued by the writer, as she has come across some strange photos directly related to Faulz. While the two, each in their own way, try to uncover the author's secrets, the tranquil island is shaken by a horrific murder - the body of a woman was found crucified on an ancient eucalyptus tree on Bomon, which the locals call the Immortal. It was the old photographs of the murdered Apollin Chapuy that Mathilda wanted to show Faulz. So, what is the recluse hiding by giving up writing?
