Junichiro Tanizaki (1886-1965) - a famous Japanese writer who gained worldwide recognition. In his works, he often turned to Japanese history. The action of two of his stories, "The Secret History of Prince Musashi" and "The Tale of the Blind," belongs to the period of the Warring States (1482-1558) - the era of bloody civil wars. The heroes of these works are prominent feudal lords who strive for absolute dominance over the country, brave and cruel warriors who do not hesitate to use any means to achieve their ambitious plans. Tanizaki remains true to himself here as well: while narrating about conspiracies, betrayal, thirst for revenge, and describing fierce duels, he explores the secret passions tormenting the souls of fearless commanders.
The story "The Secret History of Prince Musashi" has not been translated into Russian before.
