This is a story about a demon who falls in love with an angelic girl. "The Secluded Cottage on Vasilievsky" is a fantastic story by Vladimir Titov, based on a plot by Alexander Pushkin. In 1828, Pushkin told this mystical story at the Karamzin salon. Titov, who was present at the gathering, later wrote it down and with Pushkin's permission, published it.
Vladimir Pavlovich Titov (1807 - 1891) was a Russian writer, official, diplomat, and actual privy councillor. He was the nephew of the Minister of Justice, D. V. Dashkov. He served as acting Consul General in the Danubian Principalities (1839) and as an envoy to Constantinople.
