The book is the fifteenth volume in a series dedicated to the White Movement in Russia, and tells the story of the final battles of the Russian Army under General P.N. Wrangel and its evacuation from Crimea, covering the period from early September to early November 1920. The successful offensive actions of the Whites were stifled when the Bolsheviks, having concluded a truce with the Poles, created an almost 5-fold superiority in manpower against the Russian Army, primarily in cavalry. The White armies were forced to retreat first across the isthmus into Crimea, and then to the ports. The evacuation of the Russian Army was carried out impeccably by Wrangel and is now considered in all military textbooks as exemplary and classic. They were the last knights of the Russian Empire, leaving into exile with heads held high. "Glory to the defeated!" - this is what those who understood the drama of the events in Russia said to them and about them. The book is supplemented with extensive and previously unpublished comments containing several hundred unknown biographical references about the authors and heroes of the essays.
