The proposed monograph is devoted to the problems of genesis and the formation of the official ideology of imperial China. Under the official (state) ideology, the aggregate of religious ideas, doctrines and practices are understood, which served as ideological substantiation of the Supreme State Institute, the rule of a certain ruling house (dynasty) and each individual monarch and ensured the functioning of power structures in historical and political reality. The authors of the monograph for the first time in domestic science are considering such the most important phenomena of Chinese culture, as the traditions of signs, physiomantia, ideas about the commitments of the rulers and the "ideal" society. It is described in detail about the emergence and main stages of the development of the state religion of China, the main shrines, the mechanism of government coups and the methods of their legitimation, on the models of interaction between the secular authorities and the clergy, on the principles of forming popular beliefs and cults
