The book by anthropologist and folklorist S. B. Adonieva is a scientific study of folklore as a special form of oral speech through which a certain order of life is established and maintained. The research material consisted of field recordings of spells and magical practices, funeral traditions, as well as humorous songs collected during folklore expeditions in the Vologda region from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
