He abandons the girl who loves him and drives her to death, and from then on his life is a series of endless villainy and crimes. Only the portrait reminds him that none of his transgressions will go unpunished. The face of the living Dorian remains beautiful - he is doomed to eternal youth. But the face in the portrait becomes more and more disfigured with each new act of wickedness...
