Vaigach Island for a long time remained forbidden territory, on which the family spirits of the Nenets people lived. Women were forbidden even to step on this sacred land. It was there, in 1948 - 49 years, the surveyor M.S. Sinitsyn (1928-2000) was written off from the outstanding Nenets storyteller, the legends about heroes and shamans, about the owners of nature - ruffs and tribal spirits - Sydeyas, were unlucky. For almost 70 years they lay in the archive, being unrelated, despite the enthusiastic reviews about the collection of such well -known folklore specialists as V.Ya. Propp, B.O. Dolgikh, S.I. Mints. At that time, the publication of such materials without appropriate censorship was very problematic, and only now this unique collection of the spiritual heritage of the Nenets people returns back to people.
