Before you is a true story about the dangerous five-year journey of African boy Usman Umar. At the age of 12, he escaped from his country and headed to Europe in hopes of starting a new life. Usman's childhood can hardly be called carefree or filled with usual joys. On his quest for happiness, he overcame incredible difficulties that could easily break an adult. Everywhere, whether it be the Sahara Desert, the intimidating metropolises of Accra and Tripoli, or the overcrowded boat with migrants, Usman encountered not only terrorists or criminals, but also compassionate people willing to help. The book "The Journey North to Paradise" is an authentic story of survival at the edge of possibilities and a portrait of extraordinary resilience of a little man who changed the lives of many people in his native country. In 2012, the author founded the public organization NASCO Feeding Minds, aimed at preventing illegal migration from Ghana to Europe by providing opportunities for education and development within the country.
