Here is a description of the characteristics and way of life of Moscow residents from the times of the old days and our times: festivities, celebrations, amusements, and other remarkable events, an outline of the history of agriculture and gardens from ancient times.
Lyubetsky (1809 - 1881) was a Russian writer and poet, educator, art historian, and historian, a Moscow expert. He was an illegitimate son of someone from the Vyazemsky family. He was raised in the house of Princess E. R. Vyazemskaya, a great-granddaughter of the author of the 'History of Russia from the Earliest Times,' V. N. Tatishchev. He studied (1820s) and then served at the Moscow Palace Architectural School, where he initially taught Russian language, and later history and geography. From 1844, he taught the same subjects at the Moscow Orphanage, combining this with the position of supervisor. In 1854, Lyubetsky was appointed as a collegiate assessor, and in 1857 - as a court counselor. In this rank, he retired in 1865, devoting himself exclusively to literature. He collaborated mainly in the 'Contemporary Chronicle,' 'Industrial Herald,' 'Moscow Polytechnic Exhibition Herald,' and others. He published 4 novels, poems, collections of historical and didactic stories, satirical stories and feuilletons, historical essays, wrote plays, and was the author of original stories from the gravedigger's tales 'Evenings at the Cemetery.' He wrote many historical works on the history of Moscow.
