More than a hundred years have passed since the beginning of the First World War, which contemporaries dubbed the Great. A huge amount of literature on this war came out in the world, and it still continues to worry the minds of people from different countries. In Soviet Russia, this war was forgotten. She was simply crossed out of the historical process, as if such was not at all. Several pages in history textbooks and popular brochures - that’s all that was dedicated to this event that, beyond recognition, changed the modern world. In recent years in Russia, the interests and historians in Russia in Russia in the problems of the First World War indicates that this topic begins to leave our country in our country, gradually occupying its place. However, so far none of the domestic authors have investigated the issues of the origin of the First World War, i.e. He did not seriously consider the reasons for its occurrence, did not study the historical path that the country that unleashed the world had done before crossing the weapon.
This book is the first and so far the only comprehensive study of the causes of the First World War in Russian -speaking historiography. It is written on the basis of a large number of sources and research, first introduced into scientific circulation. The book has not a word about the war itself and hostilities. It tells how politicians and diplomats of European states brought the case to a general fire. A distinctive feature of the book is that the author investigated in historical retrospective the path to the war of each of the great European states. In the course of the narrative, the reader arises images of many rulers, politicians and diplomats, one way or another involved in the emergence of a world war. The names and portraits of some of them are little known to the Russian reader. All this gives the additional attractiveness of the book proposed.
