In the book "N. V. Gogol in the illustrations of Anatoly Zverev "entered two works of the Great Writer:" Night before Christmas" and "Notes of Crazy".
Tale "Night before Christmas" - from the "Evening evening at the farm near the Dikanka". This book brought fame to the writer, and the readers discovered the poetic, colorful, cheerful and magical world of Malorussia. In the "notes of the crazy", which later included in the cycle "Petersburg stories", the writer is first addressed by the theme of the "Little Man".
Miscellaneous for the mood of the work of N. V. Gogol is illustrated by the brightest representative of the Russian "unofficial" art of the twentieth century, the artist of the wonderful creative fearlessness Anatoly Zverev (1931-1986) These works from the collection of Dmitry Apazidis (1918-1994) are collected from the mid-50s to the mid-70s, they never exposed anywhere. The book "Night before Christmas" with the illustrations of A. Zverev, thanks to the efforts of Sovelius Yamchshchov, was published in 1995, the illustrations for the "notes of the madman" were not published.
