The novel "The Mystery of the Yellow Room" (1907) is a classic psychological detective story. The action takes place in an ancient castle, where an experienced criminal attempts to take the life of the castle's owner. A terrifying crime committed in a locked room in the Château du Glandier near Paris is solved by a young newspaper reporter. This is the first novel by Gaston Leroux about the adventures of Joseph Rouletabille, which laid the foundation for a whole direction in detective literature. After reading it, a young Agatha Christie decided to pursue writing detective stories.
