The Mudfog Papers, a collection of sketches by Charles Dickens, depict the local politics of the fictional town of Mudfog. It includes the delusions of grandeur of its mayor Nicholas Tulrumble and his failed attempts at organizing public events. The papers also describe the meetings of the Society for the Advancement of Everything, where the town is filled with distinguished scientists and professors conducting seemingly pointless research.
